About

We build software
for Africa.

Vylis is a product company based in Accra, Ghana. We identify problems on the continent and build software to solve them — starting with Nest, with more to follow.

Our story

“Good software wasn't being built here.
We decided to change that.

Vylis started from a straightforward observation: African businesses needed good software, and most of what existed was either too expensive, built without local context, or simply not built at all. Payment integrations that assumed US banking. SaaS tools priced for American salaries. Infrastructure decisions made by people who had never worked in markets with unreliable power or inconsistent connectivity.

We are based in Accra because the problems are here — and because building from within the market means we design for its realities, not for what it might eventually look like. That is not a talking point. It is the actual reason we exist.

We are not a consultancy. We are a small team building products we believe the continent needs — with local context, honest scope, and the discipline that comes from owning what we ship.

Mission

Build software that works for Africa as it is — not as outsiders imagine it to be.

That means understanding local infrastructure, local payment systems, and local user behaviour before a single line of code is written. It means shipping products that solve real problems — not interesting ones.

What we do

One focus.
Products for Africa.

Approach

Problem-led building

We start from problems we see in the market — trust, payments, broken workflows — and scope products to address them directly. No advisory layer: the same people who research ship the software.

How we build
Products

Owned end to end

Nest is the first public bet — a verified rental marketplace for Ghana. Everything we release is something we operate and improve ourselves, with the same bar we would hold any serious product team to.

Location

Accra is not just where we are — it is why we understand the problem.

Local knowledge is not a feature we bolt on. It is the foundation. We know what it actually costs to make a payment in Ghana, how users behave on slower connections, and what African businesses need versus what they say they need — because we live and work in the same environment.

That context changes how we scope products, which trade-offs we take, and what we choose to build next. It is an advantage that cannot be replicated from outside the market.

How we work

How we operate.
What that means in practice.

01

Fully accountable.

There is no hierarchy to hide behind. No account manager sitting between users and the builders. When we commit to a product, we own it from first conversation through production.

02

Context before code.

We spend time understanding the market, the user, and the actual problem before writing a line. The best software solves the right thing — not just the thing that was stated.

03

We ship things we would use.

Building Nest forces us to meet our own standard. We ship products we depend on ourselves — that accountability shows in how we work.
